You Don’t Have To Spend Loads To Look Great!
There are a lot of great deals that you can find at thrift stores and online. Everyone knows Ebay has clothes, but you may not know that they have cheap designer clothes and so does your local thrift store. Here are a few ideas for men’s clothing:
Sweaters: Buy these on sites like Ebay, not at thrift stores. By the time cashmere gets to a thrift store, it has holes in it. While you can repair it, there may be so many holes it’s not worth it. Cashmere sweaters on Ebay might run $40-80 depending on the brand. Tip: Shop for cashmere in the summer when it’s not overpriced.
Jeans: Everyone wants designer jeans and whether it’s Rock and Republic, Diesel, Seven or other brands, shop online. A great site is DealOz where you can put in the brand name and it tells you where the cheapest deals are located. Also take advantage of sales in your favorite stores on the Fourth of July, Christmas and New Years. These sales are usually 40-50% off and you can find top deals. Other sites to check include Ebay, Wallapop and Close 5.
Suits: The Men’s Warehouse may be your best bet as finding suits online won’t guarantee a proper fit unless you know your measurements. Stores like Daffy’s used to be very popular but they’ve closed a lot of locations. If you do find one, you can find suits, dress shirts, shoes and ties all on sale at great prices. Also check TJ Maxx and Marshalls which are under the same parent company. You can find a lot of deals on shoes, accessories, t-shirts, jackets, pants, and more. Even better, you’ll sometimes find designer brands here at seriously great prices!
Jackets: Some thrift stores may carry jackets, but when you inspect them, make sure to check the pockets for holes, check for loose threads, missing buttons, tears, odors and stains. Be very careful with thrift stores in cities like New York where they’ve had problems with bed bugs. Also be sure that for any alterations you need, you take the item to a tailor who can restore the jacket to a great condition.
Shoes, Coats And Other Accessories
You can’t go wrong with Ebay, Wallapop and Close 5 as these are great for finding local deals. Ebay is also good for accessories like that Gucci belt you were eyeing. You might find it for about $100 if not less, when it’s not around the holidays. You can also find great coats, jackets, gloves, and other items severely marked down. Just try to shop in the off season for better deals.
New Name Brand Items
If you only want new, name brand items, check out the outlet stores. If you go, try to find a time when they’re having a big 40-50% off sale, so you might want to sign up for their newsletter or email deals and they’ll let you know when the sales are on. Usually these big sales are only once or twice a year, but you can find lots on offer and reduced prices. In some outlet stores you’ll find designer sunglasses, wallets and shoes, and other great accessories.
Things to Avoid: One area you want to be sure to steer clear of is counterfeit goods. On sites like Ebay, if it looks too good to be true, it sometimes is. When you shop, confirm the person has a 100% positive feedback and that they have several customers. If they have no customers and are listing all designer goods at really low prices, don’t buy it. There have been suspicious third party sites that hack into Ebay accounts and set up bogus auctions just to get your credit card information. By protecting yourself online and shopping with credible sellers and reputable online stores, you can find a lot of great deals.
Be sure to look for stores that have large discounts and you can save up for these as they may only have them once or twice a year. Look for clearance items, closing store sales, holiday savings and your wardrobe will be oh so stylish!
