From an economic and crime perspective, Galveston is fine. Average. However, when it comes to natural disasters it’s historically one of the worst places to live in the United States.
A hurricane in 1900 killed 6,000 from this region. 108 years later, in 2008, the devastating Hurricane Ike rolled through and caused over $5bil in damages.
