Randy Orton vs. John Cena
John Cena is one of the most recognizable faces in the world of professional wrestling. He has been in movies, appeared on television and been a major character in the wrestling annals for the last decade. It could be said that he has had many rivalries with many of his opponents, but there was only one who actually went after Cena’s family.
Randy Orton is the son of the infamous “Cowboy Bob Orton” from the golden age of wrestling, when there was no such thing as pay-per-view and HD cable TV. He was a solid wrestler who made his name initially as part of a tag team called “Rated RKO.”
John Cena teamed with Shawn Michaels to dethrone Rated RKO and the wound left behind was deep. Orton vowed vengeance against Cena, and set out to get it. As Orton rose in the ranks as an individual fighter, biding his time and waiting for that single match against Cena, he launched several sneak attacks against him, designed to weaken Cena’s resolve before the two would meet. He would routinely sneak in to one of Cena’s matches and attack him when he wasn’t looking, even assaulting Cena’s father at ringside on one occasion. Cena got his revenge and disposed of the son of Cowboy Bob eventually, but not before their rivalry took its toll.
